UIL: "A solution for the undocumented workers"

Rome - November 12, 2010 - A solution "just and possible" for those who, having a job, stayed out of the regularization. This is the appeal of the UIL in the face of extreme forms of protest in place in Brescia and Milan.

"There are many cases of foreigners who participated in the process of emergence and were deluded that their application was accepted, even if they had been hit by a warrant of deportation. Unfortunately, at the beginning the rules were not clear, and as such were required subsequent judgments to clarify who was entitled to the adjustment or not, "said William Loy, confederal secretary of the UIL.

"Today - said the union - the situation could get complicated in the absence of proposals for the reasonable solution."

According to the UIL, the way forward "is not one of despair." It serves instead "a comparison of the merits of legislation to improve in order to respond to the reality of thousands of people who work honestly, even without having a valid residence permit."

"We call on the government - concludes Loy - to take control of the situation immediately and find a just and possible."
